Meet Mark

Meet Mark Smith

Born and raised in the Lowcountry, I’ve lived the values that make South Carolina strong — faith, family, hard work, and freedom.

For over 30 years, I’ve built and led a successful small business serving families across our state, creating jobs, and helping people in their hardest moments. I’m not a career politician — I’m a conservative businessman who’s rolled up my sleeves, signed the front of the paycheck, and gotten things done.

In the State House, I’ve delivered results: cutting taxes, fighting illegal immigration, backing the blue, and standing up for our conservative values. Now I’m running for Congress to shake up Washington, support President Trump, and take our fight to the front lines.
My wife Elayne and I have been married for 31 years. We’ve raised three sons — Parker, Avery, and Domenic — and we’re proud to call Daniel Island home, along with our loyal dog, Hugo. We’re active members of St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church.

I’m honored to serve as President of the Daniel Island Republican Club, and I’ve spent years giving back through leadership roles with the Rotary Club of Charleston, the Lowcountry Food Bank, and the S.C. Advisory Council on Aging.

I’ve never forgotten where I come from — and I’ll never stop fighting for the Lowcountry.

It is truly an honor to receive the highest rating in the South Carolina House of Representatives during the 2024 legislative session. I couldn't agree more with Americans for Prosperity's belief that freedom and opportunity are the keys to unleashing prosperity for all. I will continue to fight for common sense legislation alongside my colleagues that unleashes every opportunity for SC citizens to prosper and thrive.

The South Carolina Policy Council’s 2024 Legislative Scorecard was created to promote the organization’s principles of limited government and individual liberties, free markets, and traditional South Carolina values.

Each year, the Professional Firefighters Association of South Carolina presents the prestigious Legislator of the Year Award to a distinguished member of the South Carolina Legislature. This award recognizes a legislator who has demonstrated exceptional dedication to supporting and advocating for law enforcement officers.

Each year, the South Carolina Fraternal Order of Police presents the prestigious Legislator of the Year Award to a distinguished member of the South Carolina Legislature. This award recognizes a legislator who has demonstrated exceptional dedication to supporting and advocating for law enforcement officers.

In 2021, Mark Smith was honored by South Carolina Citizens for Life for his unwavering support of the Heartbeat Bill, landmark legislation protecting life once a heartbeat is detected. Mark stood strong for the unborn, voting to defend the most vulnerable and uphold our pro-life values in South Carolina.
